Split Pea Soup
Recipe file created December 5, 1999.
Ingredients
My Grandma used to make this whenever I visited because it was my favourite soup.
Place peas in a soup pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Boil 1 minute and remove from heat. Let sit 1 hour. Drain. Return to soup pot and add the rest of the ingredients. Simmer for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, until peas are soft. Serve for lunch or supper with hot biscuits.
NOTE:
I like to chop the bacon before I fry it. It is easier than trying to chop it when it is crispy. Freezes well.-- Rox
